Final Exams in EAP III

Hello my classmates in EAP III,

Today is Friday Dec, 07, 2007 and we have our writing proficiency exam at 2:00pm. I hope everyone got a chance to review the grammar and writing EAP III books for today and still we have plenty of time to do another review. Anyway I just wanted to say do not be scared and don’t panic because this is exactly same as our assignment and we have lots of time to finish our essays. We just need to focus and try to remember all the positive points that Scott has taught us in this semester, that’s all. Next, everyone needs to keep themselves calm and relax in order to write better because if any of you start panicking it will definitely affect on other students and the atmosphere of the exam’s room. I hope everybody can finish their essays on time without any problems and be ready to spend the weekends to study for Reading exam on Monday. Again, even the reading exam doesn’t seem to be that hard. Remember the activity that Scott gave us in class yesterday and he said the final exam will be very similar to this and the level if difficulty will be exactly the same. Therefore, there is no need to be worried about the Reading exam as well. We all are going to be fine and pass this course successfully.

Good Luck in Exams… Ghazal.

EAP III & Blogging

Hi Everybody,

Today we had our final presentation, which was very interesting and everyone mostly did a very good job. The most fun part was having a pot lot party and I really enjoyed trying Japanese and Chinese food this afternoon especially the Haruna’s dumplings. I should thank Scott for buying pizza for everyone, It was very nice of you, and in general thank you all the EAP III students for making the Thursday evening fun and unforgettable. I will definitely miss every single of you guys, and I hope everyone stay in touch via email or phone especially throughout our blogs. This whole blogging idea is very neat and interesting, and it also has a variety of good influences in our English language. For instance, it helps us to improve our writing skills, grammar, spelling, word forms, and even pronunciation. It also has other kind of positive points, such as it helps us to keep in touch and receive much different news from around world. I have read Wei’s blog and figured out that she is leaving this course to go back to China and visit her family and then attend in an American university. It was kind of sad news, however, at least we all got a chance to say goodbye to her and also wish her luck and happiness. I would definitely keep blogging here and try to be in touch with you guys. Let’s everybody gives comments to each other even if none of you guys are interested in writing blogs in here.

I wish everybody the best and success….

Love,
Ghazal.

Final Exams

Hi Everybody,

Today, Scott gave us the official time and date for our final exams. I do not know how you guys feel about this but I am pretty scared and nervous. I hope everyone in our class receives god marks in finals and we all pass this semester. Anyway, I would like to share some information that I recently find out regarding job positions in Calgary with you. Yesterday, I was just browsing the Calgary Herald and Calgary Sun’s local classified sections for job opening in Calgary. Do you want to know what I found? Yes, that’s right. There are more than 19,146 available jobs only in Calgary. According to one article that I read a while ago, this means each person resides in Calgary is able to change his or her job every five minutes. This situation has positive and negative results on society. The good and positive effect is that people live in Calgary are going to have more stability and they will be more comfortable with their job statue instead of having stress and being worried about loosing their jobs. However, there is always a negative influence on society. For instance, the number of people who are immigrating to Calgary from other cities, provinces, and even other countries is growing everyday. These people are desperately looking for a job in this city and finally, finding a job in Calgary is the only reason that has forced them to come to Calgary. The population is growing and after that people are going to face with lack of accommodations and lots of traffic. This kind of situation makes the government’s job more difficult in order to fix this issue. Hopefully, governors and people who are responsible will finally find a solution to solve this problem.

Lets Save Calgary…

The colours of the four Seasons

Hi Everyone,

Today is Tuesday and the fourth day of December, It is around 5:41pm and I am sitting in front of my computer. I feel very down and this weather makes me so upset. I wish I could fly and leave this planet for ever but it is not possible. Any let’s talk about happy stuff. For example, talking about Christmas or New Year would be nice and exciting. It is very interesting how white is everything in Calgary like: All the buildings, trees, and even the roads. I am amazed that how God create special beauty in every season and every single of them has a pleasant feature. Each person in the world normally picks one season as his or her favourite and connects that season to his or her personality. Several books have been published around the world written by Chinese and East Indian authors and they are based on the four season. These books mostly describe the relationship between humans’ personality and nature and how seasons make influence on people. I personally think these books have a very fun and different subject and they can be very inspiring. Even some of these books talk about the variety of the colours in the nature, such as green in the summer, white in the winter, and red or yellow in the fall. Many people believe in these theories and some don’t and I believe them somehow, not completely though.

How about you????????????????

Life & Me

Hi Guys,

This weather makes me so sad and I have no idea why I have such a feeling. I usually spent more time at home doing nothing and this makes me feel down. “I FEEL BLUE.” I suddenly decided to write something on my blog about life and how much it worth. I moved to Calgary almost four years ago and during these past four years I learnt a lot about the world that we are living in and the people who are we dealing with everyday. I worked in variety of different places along other people with different attitudes. It was not always good and peaceful sometimes I had to fight for my rights, of course politely, and other times I had to let it go and do not waste my time for it. Do you want to know why? Because people are different, some of them are very nice and friendly and if they feel you are better than them, they do not try to destroy you and some other ones are completely the opposite of the first group. They are normally mean and not vary kind and friendly. They usually do not help you to become successful or better than them. However, there is always one way for everyone to get along with other people in different type and that is being honest and does the job in a best way. I am personally a very kind type of person who likes to do everything for my friends and coworkers and I hope I could be helpful for them.

Stay in Touch Everyone.

Traffic & Accidents

Hello Everybody,

Winter is here in Calgary again. Today is the first day of December and as everyone can see the whole city of Calgary is white and cold. Snowing started since this morning and it is still continuing. The temperature is between -17 to -18 degree and the sky is all white and fuggy. It is really a horrible weather for driving and I advice everyone who drive to be careful and make sure you guys have all the safety features in your vehicles, such as booster cable, extra gloves, additional batteries, and emergency phone numbers. There are a few rules for driving in Calgary. For instance, people normally change their summer tires to the winter type, check their vehicles’ oil breaks and break pads, and keep more than usual distance with the rear and front cars in order to have a safe and less dangerous drive. This morning I witnessed an accident around Signal hill, which was very hard and it made a lot of damage to three cars. This accident happened due to not considering enough space between two vehicles and suddenly the light turned red and those drivers couldn’t completely control their vehicles. At the end, by calling 911 after the accident happened and having all different types of emergency cars, such as police cars, fire department vehicles, and ambulance coming to that area, you guys imagine how the road looked like and how many people got stock in traffic just because one person did not pay attention to the rules.

EVERYONE DRIVE SAFE …

Teacher’s Day in Iran

Hello Everyone,

I would like to share one of the nicest experiences that I have in my life with you guys, which it goes back to when I was studying at school in Iran. In the culture that I grew up with teachers have special status in the society and everybody, children to elders, constantly respect them. Also, due to the teachers’ educational and cultural level, they always are considered as a top class people in my country. In addition, the Persian religion, which is mostly Islam, keeps reminding the people residing in this country to have a special respect for the teachers and as a matter of fact, this is written in our holy book, Quran. In order to appreciate teachers and instructors, government of Iran decided to choose a specific day, May 02, in the name of teachers. Everyone all around Iran celebrate this event and it is concidered as a national holiday. All students from elementary school till university would give their teachers gifts as a remembrance and these gifts could be thank you letters or bunch of flowers. Most importantly, the whole purposes of giving gifts to the teacher are all about showing students’ appreciation and expressing their respects to their teachers. In our tradition, the teaching career is been called one of the prophets’ duties and whoever choose this job is following an honorable career. I personally think that this kind of mentality and public behavior in order to appreciate the teachers are very positive and generous. It would be nice if we could have such an event in Canada to celebrate the teachers’ day. I strongly believe that being a teacher is a very difficult and stressful job. However, at the same time it could be very interesting and fun. I wish the best for all the teachers in the world especially our instructors in EAP program, who are helping us to learn the English language as best as possible.

THANK YOU ALL.
Ghazal.
